FSSAI Registration in Delhi

All organizations engaged in the food industry in Delhi are required to have the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) registration, popularly known as the food license. To control and set standards for food items in India, the Food Safety and Standard (FSS) Act of 2006 created the FSSAI, an independent institution. The FSS Act and its rules must be put into effect in Delhi by the Department of Food Safety. The Department of Food Safety in Delhi is headed by the city's food safety commissioner. Food particles that are subpar, hazardous, or mislabeled may not be sold, manufactured, distributed, or stored without the department's approval. Types of FSSAI Registration in Delhi Based on the yearly revenue and manufacturing capacity, there are three types of FSSAI registration available in Delhi, which are as follows:

FSSAI Basic Registration: A Fill out Form-A to submit an application for FSSAI Basic Registration if you are a Food Business Operator (FBO) with an annual revenue of less than Rs. 12 lakh. This registration is granted by the appropriate official in Delhi who has been notified by the food safety commissioner.

FSSAI State Registration: All FBOs that have an annual revenue of more than Rs. 12 lakh but less than Rs. 20 crore should submit a Form-B application to the FSSAI for state registration. This registration is granted by the Food Safety Commissioner's office in Delhi.

FSSAI Central Registration: All FBOs with an annual revenue of more than Rs. 2 crore shall submit a Form-B application for FSSAI Central Registration. This registration is granted by the Central FSSAI authority.

Documents for Delhi FSSAI Registration The documents to be submitted for FSSAI Basic Registration are as follows:

  • Photo identity proof.

  • Address proof of food business.

  • Proof of business premises possession.

  • Food business constitution certificate.

  • Details of the nature of business.

  • List of food articles/products manufactured or processed.

The documents to be submitted for FSSAI State License are as follows:

  • Filled and signed Form-B.

  • Address proof of food business.

  • The layout of the food processing unit.

  • Proof of business premises possession.

  • Food business constitution certificate.

  • Name, number, horsepower used, record and equipment and machinery installed capacity.

  • List and contact details of members, partners, directors or executives business.

  • ID proof and address proof of the partners, proprietors, directors or authorised signatories.

  • Analysis report of water used in food products from a recognised or public health laboratory.

  • List of food items proposed to be processed or manufactured.

  • Authority letter from the manufacturer nominated the responsible person with name and address details.

  • NOC from the manufacturer.

  • Food safety management system plan or certificate.

FSSAI Registration Fees in Delhi

The fee for FSSAI Basic Registration in Delhi is Rs.100.

The fees for FSSAI State License differ on the size of the business, which is stated below:

  1. Fees for a manufacturer with a 1MT-2MT production capacity per day or 10,001 to 50,000 litres of milk per day – Rs.5000.

  2. Fees for a manufacturer with 101 kgs or litres to 1 MT production capacity per day or 501 to 10,000 litres of milk per day – Rs.3000.

  3. Fees for three and four-star hotels – Rs.5000.

  4. Fees for one, two and three-star hotels or hotels without a star rating by the Ministry of Tourism (HRACC) – Rs.2000.

  5. Fees for food service providers, including canteens (schools, offices, colleges, institutions), clubs, banquet halls with food catering arrangements, caterers, restaurants/boarding houses, food vendors like Dabba wallas, etc. – Rs.2000.

  6. Fees for wholesalers, retailers and distributors – Rs.2000.

Manufacturing, distributing, exporting, importing, and storing food products all require an FSSAI registration or license. In Delhi, it is also necessary to start and run a food business.

The Delhi food market is under constant observation by the Department of Food Safety. An FBO will be subject to punishment or legal action if it violates the requirements outlined in the FSS Act and guidelines. As a result, all food business owners in Delhi are required to register with the FSSAI and abide by the norms and standards established by the FSS Act.
